The Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC), in collaboration with The Experience Institute (TEI), held the first Puerto Rico: Experience Dedicated Destination Program (EDD) workshop in the Puerto Rico Convention Center, dedicated to capacitating members of the tourism industry to better assist the needs of the island’s visitors.

The Experience Institute (TEI) is a company that developed a scientific method that has been tested to capture data first-hand about visitors’ first impressions of their experiences that is later used in collaboration with tourism industry professionals to asses the priorities within the sector. More than 150 tourism sector professionals attended the workshop. The first session was held on Wednesday, October 2.

“The Experience Dedicated Destination (EDD) will help us know what are the expectations and needs of our visitors in a continuous manner. Furthermore, we know that, to elevate the visitor’s experience, we must integrate the entire value chain to implement measures that improve this experience effectively. This program will allow us to unite in purpose with objective data that we will utilize to make informed decisions and to monitor the results of our joint efforts,” said Carla Campos, Puerto Rico Tourism Company Executive Director.

This methodology that is being introduced to the Puerto Rico tourism sector, has proven to be successful in four different U.S. cities, including Cleveland, San Antonio, Columbus and Rochester. This event will be held in four annual sessions to evaluate the data that has been captured via surveys to establish priorities and develop the opportunities of bettering the visitor’s experience.
